La piedra artificial tambíen llamada piedra de mortero, cultivada o decorativa es una mezcla de arena lavada, marmolinas de diferentes colores y cemento, Se le añade agua para el fraguado y diferentes tintes colorantes y aditivos especiales para mejorar sus propiedades resistivas, la textura y el color.

La piedra artificial es una solución más económica que la piedra natural y mediante el llenado de moldes se consigue casi cualquier geometría. Permite la producción de piezas iguales en serie. Su principal uso consisten en el mundo de la decoración exterior e interior.

Se confecciona piedra artificial para muchos elementos: para aplacados, piscinas, montantes, dinteles, cornisas, capiteles, jardinería, chimeneas, escalones, peldaños, cubremuros y antepechos. También se usa para imitar el ladrillo y la madera.
